Table Tennis

A reflective table tennis player in action

My Style & Favorite Players

I play table tennis regularly in a small social group, always trying to land a decent forehand loop. My typical style leans toward accurate defense with the occasional offensive strike.

I really enjoy watching Truls Möregårdh in men's competitions — his unorthodox flair and creative shot-making make every rally exciting, a refreshing contrast to some top-level players whose hyper-repetitive precision can feel almost robotic.

In the women's league, I admire Honoka Hashimoto for her mesmerizing defensive play and perfectly timed counterattacks that often catch opponents off guard.

My Gear

My current setup features a Butterfly ZLC blade. I like experimenting with different rubbers. Here are some of my thoughts on the ones I've tried:

  • Tenergy 05: A long-time favorite.
  • Nittaku Hammond Z2: My recent switch. More affordable and offers excellent spin, strong looping performance, and surprisingly good control in defense.
  • Tibhar Evolution MX-P & EL-P: Both performed well initially, but deteriorated quickly and even shrank at the edges, which was an unexpected first for me despite identical gluing and setup conditions.
